One of the best ways to get energised is to write a ‘snag list’ of your life.
Write out about 3 or 4 outstanding items and give yourself exactly 35 minutes to complete them. It works equally well for your work life or your home life so set the timer, here are a few examples:
Work
- Clean out one drawer (not the whole desk)
- Delete a handful of old emails
- Pay a Credit Card Bill
- Make that dental appointment you keep putting off
- Book that week-end away
- Start your Christmas Card List (how about 5 with the correct post code!)
- Go for a swim some lunchtime
- Check the oil in your car
- Forgive your Boss for being a jerk
- Feel your energy rise every time you do this
Home
- Tidy the kitchen or even just the worktops
- Pay your store card
- Make that dental/eyebrow appointment you keep forgetting to make
- Make an appointment for the Oven Clean Man
- Put just 3 items of old clothing in a black sack for charity (and reward yourself by buying that gorgeous T Shirt you think is too expensive)
- Buy some stamps to keep handy
- Get the car serviced
- Throw away all the junk you have saved for a rainy day but haven’t used for years
- Have a sink cleaning/loo cleaning session for 5-15 minutes (no more, it's too boring)
- Replace that missing bulb
- Call your Mum/sibling/whoever and apologise for being so weird at Christmas
- Buy something nice for the freezer next time you are shopping
- Send a cute email to your spouse for no reason
Make your own Master List, keep adding to it when you think of it and just pick a couple each day – set the clock for exactly 35 minutes and off you go.
